Dungarvin New Jersey LLC has been  providing a full suite of residential and day program services and supports to individuals with disabilities and their families since 2000. Our goal is to enhance each individual’s inclusion in the community through a variety of employment, social and recreational opportunities based both within and outside the home.

We currently provides services to over 150 individuals in Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, Somerset, Hunterdon and Burlington counties. Our team works cooperatively with each individual, their family, support team and county/state entities to ensure quality services. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to fully participate in the community of their choice, regardless of any challenges.

Our Day Services programs offer a variety of supports for people with Intellectual and Development Disabilities. Depending on the location, services available may include a combination of supports such as community integration, base site programming, employment opportunities, problem-solving and decision-making in everyday living, participating in community events and leisure activities, or assisting people to prepare for vocational, recreational, or other community-based programs.

Residential services are provided to an individual living in his or her own home or apartment with or without roommates, depending on the location. These sites serve individuals of various need levels, including individuals with significant medical, physical, or behavioral challenges. Staffing levels vary by the needs of the people being served. The focus of these services is to enhance independence and quality of life. Dungarvin's residential services are very flexible and easily modified to meet changing abilities, interests, choices, and needs of individuals.

Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Area Director is responsible for the overall management and administration of programs/services and new development in assigned geographic area of state. This includes budget development and implementation, rate negotiation, licensing, strategic evaluation and planning, staff development, hiring and supervision of program directors and assigned support staff, policy development, marketing, and proposal development.

  • Ensure that all records are accurate, up-to-date, and are in compliance with legal and corporate requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all funding sources, regulatory bodies, and inter-agency liaisons and families of those we serve.
  • Oversees internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist with marketing development of new business and projecting revenue and monitoring monthly expenses.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain all aspects of business and program development.
  • Review and recommend policies and procedures to enhance program efficiency, and use technical and analytical tools to measure performance and productivity.
  • Communicates changes in policy and procedures
  • Hire and supervise program staff, evaluate programs and staff performance for quality assurance and utilization. Assisting in staff/caregiver training. 
  • Implements agency and state quality assurance programs.
  • Initiates and performs activities to ensure compliance with Dungarvin mission, strategic goals, and Dungarvin quality standards 
  • Implements and analyzes persons served/staff incident tracking systems
  • Negotiates and develops contracts with outside agencies

SKILLS CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE:

  • Knowledge and experience with all service programs strongly preferred. This includes Home and Community based services.
  • Demonstrated experience with juggling multiple priorities while remaining focused on staff and service quality
  • Knowledge of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Neurocognitive disorders (Strongly prefer dual diagnosis or complex behavior support needs). 
  • Having strong decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, and flexible.
  • A passion for excellence, able to set standards and hold people accountable.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Have knowledge of the State and federal laws

Qualifications

MUST HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human service or related area and supervisory experience
  • 3 years Human services experience in the fields of intellectual/ developmental disabilities or mental health with at least 2 years of management experience Specific to residential programs with developmental disabilities
  • Must have good decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, flexible, and have strong leadership experience. 
  • Financial management skills and budget experience in excess of $3 million. 
  • Prior experience and knowledge of the Fee for service model in addition to experience working with NJ DDD.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • A qualified intellectual disabilities professional, a licensed nursing home administrator, or education and experience comparable to one of the above as determined by the State Director.
  • Prior experience and knowledge working with ID, DD, IDD, CCP or Medicaid Waivers.

Additional Information

HOURS WORKED:

  • The Area Director’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate various programs, personnel and organizational needs, including evening and weekend hours, as indicated. Typical hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday- Friday.
