Dungarvin is a national organization of privately-owned companies who are dedicated to providing high quality, community-based supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are faced with mental health, behavioral or significant medical challenges, and to children and their families. Our founders, Tim and Diane Madden opened the first Dungarvin program, an ICF/MR serving 15 people, in St. Paul, Minnesota, in March 1976. Tim and Diane were the first live-in support staff for that program. Dungarvin has since grown to employ more than 4,000 people who currently provide supports to over 4,000 individuals across 14 states.

Job Description

The Program Director is responsible for directing a team of skilled Direct Support Professionals in providing residential services and other supportive assistance to individuals with disabilities. The job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

•Coordination and management of the overall operations, medical, financial, and maintenance.
•Responsible for overseeing implementation of individual support and behavioral plans, Dungarvin policies and procedures, assess the needs of an individual on a continual basis.
•Coordinate and facilitate communication for Interdisciplinary team members that may include case managers, day service representatives, family or legal guardians, and neighbors.
•Have a working knowledge of individuals’ current medical conditions. Oversee management of medication, doctor appointments, and maintain and review all documentation concerning medical information.
•Responsible for Interviewing, hiring, evaluations, and maintaining proper training and development of high quality staff for direct support professional positions.
•Maintain schedules for multiple sites.

Qualifications

MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree in A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • 1 years Human services experience in the fields of intellectual/ developmental disabilities or mental health with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have good decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, flexible, and have strong leadership experience. 
  • and at least one year of experience in working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Must also possess all of the following: a sincere desire to provide individualized supports to persons with developmental disabilities; ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities; ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality supports; and ability to communicate effectively with other staff members

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs and budgets, and supervising others is desired.  
  • Possess strength in administration, finance, DD programs, leadership, communication, and teamwork.

Additional Information

DRIVING STATUS:  

Unlimited driving position: This position requires the employee to be prepared to drive a motor vehicle as a part of his/her Dungarvin work, including use of your own personal vehicle, and/or the transportation of individuals served. The employee must comply with driving requirements including but not limited to evidence of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as defined by Dungarvin's insurance carrier. Should the position require the employee to drive his/her own car, the employee is required to provide his/her own vehicle and automobile insurance..

HOURS WORKED:

Exempt, full-time position.  The program director’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate various program and staff needs.  The program director is on-call at all times, unless prior arrangements have been made for someone of comparable authority to receive emergency calls.
