FUN FACT:

Our founders (Husband and wife duo) Tim and Diane Madden opened the first Dungarvin program, an ICF/MR serving 15 people, in St. Paul, Minnesota, in March 1976. Tim and Diane were the live-in “houseparent’s” for that first program. Through the success of that program Dungarvin has grown to employ approximately 4,000 people who currently provide supports to over 4,000 individuals across 14 states.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Day Program Director is responsible for coordinating and managing the overall assigned program.  The primary areas of responsibility for this position include personnel management and program coordination including but not limited to hiring the highest quality of staff, assuring they complete orientation ongoing training, and assisting.  The Day Program Director is responsible for monitoring all aspects of the program including but not limited to developing individual goals and plans, and implementing the program.   The Day Program Director is also responsible for assuring coordination and management of the overall operations, medical, financial and maintenance aspects of the home, through guiding and directing the employees.  Helping with developing a formalized curriculum in a multitude of areas including academic, community-integration, enrichment, and adult daily activities. The Day Program Director's hours are Mon-Fri, 8:00 - 5:00 but may vary at times.

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field of study preferred.  A Day Program Director must have the qualifications of an intellectual disability professional, based on a bachelor’s degree or experience in a human services field and or equivalent experience 2 + years plus a minimum of one-year full time, paid, direct experience working with participants with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities. 

Valid driver’s license and driving record, which allows candidate to be covered by agency insurance policy, required.  This position is designated as an Unlimited Driving Position --defined as one that requires an employee to drive a motor vehicle as a part of his/her Dungarvin work, including vehicles owned or leased by Dungarvin, and/or to drive a vehicle in which a person served is transported. Any employee in this position must comply with the requirements outlined in the POLICY AND PROCEDURE ON DRIVING AND THE USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES (A-8).  All employees in this position must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as defined by our insurance carrier.  An employee hired for a position that requires the employee to drive his/her own car is responsible for his/her own automobile insurance.

Prior experience in developing and implementing participants programs, implementing budgets, and supervising employees is desired.  Must demonstrate good decision-making, time management and communication skills, and be responsible, mature, and flexible.
