Job Description
The Specialist – FEM (Formulation External Manufacturing) NA&EU - under strategic procurement team, will manage external manufacturing partners (CMOs) to ensure reliable supply, cost optimization, and alignment with business objectives. The role focuses on supplier relationship management, sourcing execution, market intelligence, and stakeholder collaboration across NA&EU markets. It supports vendor development, risk management, contract compliance, and sustainability initiatives. The position also drives innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging supplier capabilities and market insights.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategy Execution:
- Drive implementation of NA&EU Market strategies to ensure direct alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Share inputs with Category Heads/Leads on scope to optimize specifications within the NA&EU Market, fostering continuous improvement.
Business Partnering:
- Proactively communicate and engage with stakeholders (like IPDO leads, Business leads, Planning/Manufacturing, Finance) to gather insights, align priorities, and address potential challenges in the NA&EU Market (if applicable).
- Establish a structured feedback mechanism with stakeholders to understand their evolving needs and preferences.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Manage all suppliers (except key strategic suppliers) for the respective NA&EU Market including active engagement, governance, identification, and escalation of supply risk to Category Head
- Support AVD activities through vendor scouting, vendor review, testing etc. if applicable.
NA&EU Assessment:
- Conduct NA&EU research to gather intelligence, identify opportunities, and support development of should cost.
- Utilize the obtained NA&EU insights to support informed decision-making within the category.
Sourcing Event Execution:
- Gather business requirements for sourcing events from user teams.
- Handle vendor scouting and execution of sourcing strategy.
- Resolve vendor queries and ensure timely bid submission.
- Conduct rate analysis (preferably through a digital tool) of vendor bids and prepare negotiation packs for supplier discussions.
Monitoring:
- Assist in contract management, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and adherence to procurement policies.
Sustainability:
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement roadmap for improving % ESG compliance by suppliers.
- Assist collation of industry developments and future trends to identify potential opportunity areas.
Innovation:
- Facilitate supplier interactions to source innovative ideas and solutions, fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement.
- Facilitate the implementation of identified innovative solutions while managing associated risks.
Qualifications
Educational Qualification
- Pharma/Science Graduate with MBA (Supply Chain/Operations) with 5-9 years of experience in a pharma industry handling Sourcing
Skills & Attributes Functional Skills
- Good understanding of Supply Chain operations, Procurement strategies, systems & processes
- Knowledge of Operations in pharmaceutical industry, Generics business, Regulatory framework
- Good knowledge of the regulated NA&EU, vendors base
- Good understanding of recent trends & NA&EU intelligence, business dynamics
