Job Description

This is a great part-time job for students, retirees, and everyone in between who likes the water and working with kids. Our swim instructors teach people of all ages (infants through adults) how to be comfortable and safe in the water with the goal to increase water competency in our community. We provide ample in-service training to hone instructors’ swimming knowledge and technical skill as well as developing class organization and management strategies. Applicants need not be highly proficient swimmers themselves as long as they are open to learning on job and can swim the following basic requirements in shallow water:

REQUIRED: 50 yards freestyle, 50 yards backstroke, 25 yards breaststroke

PREFERRED: 25 yards elementary backstroke, 15 yards sidestroke, 15 yards dolphin kick or butterfly

We are currently looking for swim instructor applicants with ongoing availability for at least one of the following session blocks:

  • Mondays/Wednesdays, 4:15-7:00 or 4:15-7:45pm
  • Tuesdays/Thursdays, 4:15-7:00 or 4:15-7:45pm
  • Saturdays, 10:00am-2:00pm

Compensation:
$19.00-20.00/hour DOE

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Swim Instructors:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer (within 90 days of hire)
  • Standard First Aid (within 90 days of hire)
  • Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow water (YMCA Minnow or ARC Level 4 Swimming Level)
