We are recruiting for one of our clients for a  farm in Isinya.
 

Purpose Statement of the Position
Responsible for the management & general maintenance of a farm which includes planting, fertilizer application, spraying, cultivation & harvesting procedures of crops.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Arrange the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment.
• Source for farm inputs such as fertilisers & seeds.
• Ensure that harvested crops are stored correctly to avoid spoilage & contamination.
• Prepare maintain farm records & accounts.
• Supervise the team to ensure that farm operations are effectively carried out.
• Coordinate & direct the preparation of farm budget & escalate for approval.
• Maintain & monitor the quality of crop yield.
• Undertake practical activities such as operating the farm machinery & spraying fields.
• Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations.
• Monitor the state of crops at the field working closely with the Agronomist.
• Protect the environment and maintaining biodiversity.
• Keep financial records up to date.
• Planning and preparing the finance reports, setting up budget limit for various farm activities, and maintaining the farm activities in agreement with the budgeted parameter.
• Monitoring the health and safety measures undertaken by the farm estate, keeping track of the health and safety of workers and other staff, maintaining environmental biodiversity, and undertaking environmental protection activities if required.
 

Minimum Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or its equivalent.
• Should be well versed & conversant with both green house & open field planting technology.
• Knowledgeable on chemical application, disease & pest control in tomato farming.
• Have at least five (5) years’ experience in tomato farming from a reputable agribusiness company.
• Should be ready to work and reside on the farm, at Isinya.
