Our client is in the Real Estate sector management and is one of Kenya’s largest and pioneer developer and manager of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation in Nairobi. It was established in 2001, initially, the company provided Project Management Services across East Africa. In 2006, the company added property development capabilities and begun
undertaking its own developments before transitioning into student accommodation in 2015.

They are looking for a qualified Health and Safety and Environment (HSSE) Manager who will be reporting to the Human Resource Director

• Lead the execution of the HSSE framework across the organization (Head Office, Operating Properties & Construction sites); 
• Ensure compliance to International Financial Corporation (IFC) performance standards;
• Ensure compliance to all statutory and regulatory requirements;
• Conduct task-based risk inspection to proactively address any HSSE risks;
• Conduct periodic reviews of the HSSE framework to evaluate performance, discuss problems, and address them;
• Design and conduct training on health, security, safety, risk management, and accident prevention,
• Maintain best safety practices to minimize accidents/injuries,
• Prepare monthly and quarterly HSSE reports for management reviews,
• Ensure all findings (audits, inspections) are effectively closed out to prevent recurrence;
• Manage the HSSE team (direct & indirect) and ensure that the team delivers high performance.
   

• Bachelor degree (Preferred – science related),
• Recognized certifications in Health, safety and Environment (NEBOSH preferred),
• IT proficient – MS Office,
• 5 -8 years’ experience in safety, health and environmental field,
• Experience in construction industry is a distinct advantage.
• Good auditing skills in international standards,
• Knowledge of formal integrated HSSE system, NEMA, DOSHS and County Council Fire by laws audits and requirements,
