Donau Soja is a European non-profit organisation based in Vienna that promotes the European protein transition and supports its members and partners to address challenges in protein and soya production and consumption. Our core work is developing sustainable, regional and non-GMO soya production in Europe based on our standards.

Job Description

Donau Soja works to make European agriculture more sustainable, resilient, and innovative. To strengthen our team, we are seeking a highly qualified Agronomist with expertise in regenerative agriculture and crop production systems in western Europe.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide scientific expertise and research on regenerative and sustainable agriculture, with a focus on soy, legumes and other major crops.
  • Analyse agricultural innovations, EU regulations and sustainability trends – and translate these findings into practical recommendations.
  • Work closely with agro project managers to prepare scientifically sound content for farmer training, workshops and field projects.
  • Provide expertise to internal and external stakeholders on good agricultural practices, cropping systems, ESG criteria, and regenerative and sustainable farming methods.
  • Collect and analyse data to enable evidence-based decision-making and increase impact.
  • Collaborate on research projects (Horizon, for example).

Qualifications

Your Qualifications:

  • PhD (or equivalent senior expertise) in agricultural or environmental sciences.
  • Strong professional background in agronomic research and regenerative agriculture.
  • Excellent knowledge of western European agricultural systems and legislation
  • Expertise in soy and other crop systems.
  • Ability to connect science with practice and communicate effectively with farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent English skills; German is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe

For this position, we offer an attractive salary that matches your qualifications and experience. For legal reasons, we would like to point out that a minimum salary of EUR 3277,98 € gross per month applies (38,5 hours/week). Overpayment is possible with the appropriate professional experience and qualifications.
