• Support the database infrastructure for the coolest data platform in the world.
• Production support: troubleshoot, report, and prioritize bugs on operational issues with the production data pipeline
• Improve and promote operational scalability and standardization
• Managing SLA (service level agreement) for thousands of customer data sources
• Work with development team to help them create highly reliable data applications
• Installation, configuration and maintenance of a variety of database technologies
• Setting up backup, replication, load balancing and clustering
• Monitor and tuning databases for efficiency and help drive improvements
• Diagnose OS, network and storage issues
• Work with development team to help them create highly reliable data applications
• Coordinating with IT and developers on new product releases
• Tuning hardware and software settings.
• Work with Cloud Ops. to optimize & manage virtual & hardware resources
• Create tools and processes to automate administration and monitoring

Required Skills/Experience:

• 5 years of solid DBA experience with MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL \ Postgres etc.
• UNIX/Linux system administration.
• Detailed knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating system
• Prior experience with development in at least one of these: Perl, Python, Shell Scripts and SQL
• Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking and communication skills. Good prioritization skills
• Very strong sense of responsibility and commitment
• Fast learner with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Knowledge of the features, pros, and cons of a variety of storage engines. Big Data (Vertica, GreenPlum, Redshift)experience is a huge plus
• Ability to provide on-call support as well to handle out-of-band requests.
• Familiarity with a wide range of database administration tools
• Experience with building system and application level monitoring tools for large deployment are highly preferable.
• Familiarity with monitoring applications 
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or comparable experience

• Deep familiarity with the components of cloud-based services
