Must be local to Ann Arbor, MI or willing to relocate to MI. 

This role is on-site a minimum of 3 days per week. 

This position provides regional support to our network of supply chain centers to help Dominos reach its goal of being an injury-free workplace. The Regional Safety Specialist will lead, implement, track and monitor safety initiatives. Duties include:

  • Conduct regular monthly meetings with site safety coordinators to discuss current trends and safety initiatives.
  • Conduct regular risk and hazard assessments, conduct site visits and perform safety inspections for sites within their region, and others as needed to provide additional support.
  • Conduct, monitor and follow up on proper completion and follow up of corrective actions based on site safety audits, daily JSO and safety pass downs.
  • Collaborate with site safety coordinators and provide mentoring and training. You will provide coaching compliance training, and ensure that the local safety coordinator is competent in carrying out incident reviews, JSOs, and can maintain all records as required.
  • Have period-based review meetings with site and WRC leadership to determine improvements needed based on previous period incidents, inspections and JSO results.
  • Evaluate service level performance of the site safety coordinators.
  • Assist sites in implementation of health and safety policies, procedures and processes to increase center-level expertise problem solving skills.
  • Support centers through the incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes to ensure proper handling and follow-up.
  • Serve as a technical resource for health and safety regulations and policies to ensure  site compliance.  Know when to escalate to ensure proper information is being provided.  
  • Provide leadership, direction and training to site based operational management on safety matters (e.g. Compliance, ergonomics, handling of materials, etc.) to ensure proper focus on safety and to promote a proactive approach to safety.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions for all sites in their region.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Provide comprehensive and well thought out period reports of trends and metric to WRC leadership, site leadership, and safety coordinators to ensure compliance with regulations and consistency with company expectations.
  • Ensure consistency with company policy and expectations across the region of responsibility.
  • Serve as the regional “culture” expert to provide additional guidance and support for corporate wide safety initiatives, to ensure that all site needs are being properly addressed.
  • Collect, analyze and present relevant regional during weekly regional Safety calls.
  • Work with Safety Compliance Manager on state/federal OSHA matters to resolve Health and Safety related issues.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field.  Job-related experience may be an acceptable alternative.
  • Knowledge and experience in federal, state, and local health & safety regulations.
  • 3+ years of experience in Health and Safety including managing OSHA issues preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Experience in incident reduction through education, guidance and influence with key stakeholders.
  • Experience with leading and supporting organizational culture change.
  • Experience with multi-site, multi-state safety responsibilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate within and across departments.
  • Ability to influence and partner with leadership.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to travel in the US and Canada on limited basis (30%).
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience using MS Office computer software.
  • Experience in compiling, analyzing data & trend analysis.
  • Familiarity with Canadian federal provincial and territorial workplace health & safety requirements for Canada based positions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30, CSP CIH OHST or CHMM Certification.
  • Experience in a food production / distribution environment
  • Experiment managing direct or indirect reports.
  • Experience with DOT Safety.
