Job Description

What You'll Do:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance of timely financial records for the organization. Specific duties may include completion of account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and data compilation for month end close and financial reporting. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for the review and approval of certain journal entries and account reconciliations and for maintaining accounts and records in various general and/or cost accounting functions. The Senior Accountant will collect and help analyze financial data, which is used in reports and recommendations.

General Accounting

  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and research related to a variety of areas of the business, utilizing systems to compile required information for balancing and reporting
  • Review records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts
  • Perform review and approval of certain journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with the month end close processes, including collecting and analyzing information necessary for the preparation of journal entries, and reviewing account balances to ensure fluctuations are reasonable and appropriate
  • Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies
  • Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements accurately
  • Assist with reporting to external agencies and with external audit requirements
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned area of responsibility
  • Operate as a resource to department managers and other staff to provide information and support about the organization
  • Provide spreadsheet/General Ledger assistance for inputting of financial projections for the annual fiscal year budget process

Qualifications

Required / Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting/Related field, 3+ years of experience in Accounting. Expereince 1:1 for eduction 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work unsupervised, make decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively
  • Able to provide leadership and effective management to staff accountants and / or accounting contractors.
  • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization in accordance with our partners standards
  • Understand and maintain confidential nature of organization and client information, including and in accordance to HIPAA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals across a business
  • Ability to learn new systems and navigate efficiently to accomplish deliverables
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and problem solving skills
  • Pronounced problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and ability to multitask on competing priorities

Preferred:

  • Experience using SAP
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
