The SCNG Video Editor will help lead SCNG journalists to build audience and engagement on all SCNG digital platforms by implementing best practices on video channels. This editor will have a dual role of identifying unique enterprise packages for development, while also supporting and enhancing the work of journalists across SCNG. The Editor will be responsible for setting up workflow, procedures, best practices and standards for both staff-produced and syndicated videos. The Editor will ensure consistent delivery of projects, often juggling multiple deadlines. The Editor will be heavily focused on training and improving the quality of multimedia work across the news group, and will be the liaison for corporate projects and third-party video players and vendors.
The Editor should be capable of:
Overseeing daily assignment and production of video work across SCNG.
Collaborating with editors across SCNG to identify high impact enterprise projects for the team, as well as participating in breaking news and deadline-driven coverage.
Participating in planning and budget meetings so that video and audio concerns are baked in to the enterprise projects and daily journalism we produce.
Maintaining digital publishing calendar.
Coordinating with DFM-level counterparts on video app development, deployment and DFM-wide projects, including Tout and Inform.
Monitoring analytics reports and make strategic adjustments as needed to grow audience.
Compiling reports for senior management team.
Staying abreast of innovative video tools such as 360 video and live video apps, and train SCNG journalists to support their journalism.
Managing video players on every platform to make sure that we can share and present our videos in the best possible way across SCNG.
Looking for best opportunities to promote video and multimedia work on print and social channels.
Collaborating closely with social media editors across the group on social video initiatives.
