Job Description

JOB SUMMARY   

The E-Commerce Specialist supports the online marketing efforts for Yield Management Hotel Marketing.  The main focus will be to maintain front and back-end content on Yield Management microsites and DiamondResortsandHotels.com.  The Specialist will aid in the continuing growth of direct marketing for Diamond’s hotel guest program.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides technical support in the form of hypertext markup language (HTML) coding, pixel implementation and full-scale reporting setup.

  • Liaises between the Information Technology (IT) department and third party vendors for digital marketing setup and maintenance.

  • Drives new direct revenues from all microsites and landing pages.

  • Implements approved content onto hotel guest microsites, TicketStation and DiamondResortsTravel sites.

  • Liaises between Regional Marketing team members and IT department to input tickets for content updates and/or development needs on DiamondResortsandHotels.com.

  • Responsible for overseeing content consistency and functionality across all websites in brand messaging, spelling and grammar on all device types.

  • Works closely with the Creative Services department, IT, and digital agency on creation and maintenance of existing and upcoming microsite templates.

  • Cooperates with web designers and IT to match visual design intent and payment card industry (PCI) compliance with functionality.

  • Collaborates with Content Coordinators to utilize search engine optimization (SEO) reporting tool, BrightEdge, to make keyword recommendations and input approved SEO keywords, meta and additional back-end SEO to microsites.

  • Works with IT, digital agency, and E-Commerce Manager to implement a full-scale reporting structure for the E-Commerce Department. Process includes, but not limited to, pixel placements on sites and booking engines, Google Analytics setup and maintenance (including establishing Commerce and/or Goals setup), and monthly report creation.

  • Provides metrics, best practices and updates regarding E-commerce trends and status reports to E-Commerce Manager prior to monthly E-Commerce calls.

  • Aids E-Commerce Manager in management of large Search Engine Marking (SEM) and/or Pay-Per-Click (PPC) budgets.

  • Integrates data from various back-end services and databases, requires pixel placement and setup for programs including, but not limited to:  Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Omniture, Google AdWords, Google AdRoll, VE Interactive Abandon Cart Program, Google Display Network, Seekda Meta Search, iHotelier Booking Engine, Clarity Booking Engine, Flip.to.

  • Creates and maintains software documentation.

  • Participates in monthly E-Commerce calls, presents data, highlights and action items for third party vendors including, but not limited to, Affilired, VE Interative, Google Business listings and various other third party vendors.

  • Manages third Party vendor relationships.

  • Advises E-Commerce Manager regarding open, pending, and upcoming IT tickets in prioritized queue and participates in monthly internal call with the IT team.

  • Aids manager in data collection for business plan writing.

  • Completes all required Company trainings and compliance courses as assigned.

  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum three (3) years of experience in the computer science and/or information technology field required.

  • No supervisory experience required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position spends the majority of the time (50% or more) achieving organization objectives, often through the coordinate achievements of subordinate staff.  A portion of the time may be spent performing individual tasks related similar to those performed by direct reports, but primary duties are supervisory or organizational-goal related.  Analyzes and resolves problems, determines work techniques, monitors for regulatory compliance, maintains production, interprets and creates policies, and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. 

 

Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with independence, and makes decisions on matters of significant importance.  Manages human, financial, and/or physical resources; proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets.   Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action; develops systems to ensure subordinates adhere to policies and procedures in compliance with organizational goals and objectives. 

 

LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS

  • This position does not require licenses or certifications.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions as well as knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices.  Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.

 

Specific skills and abilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Strong written and verbal communications.

  • Ability and proven work experience in web development, website design, testing and analyzing the user experience.

  • Ability to develop and programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern JQuery/JavaScript, HTML and cascading sytle sheet (CSS).

  • Ability to function with programming language hypertext preprocessor (PHP) and active service pages   (ASP).

  • Adequate knowledge of content management systems (CMS).

  • Adequate knowledge of E-Commerce shopping carts such as Magento.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Understand how to develop and implement business strategies.

  • Ability to interpret and create policies, procedures and manuals.

  • Proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.

  • Recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action.

  • Able to establish and maintain a cooperative working relation.

  • Ability to interpret and create spreadsheets.
