Job Description

Job Function and Purpose

The Traffic Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate development and distribution of content, media assets, and marketing communications for the company. This role sits at the intersection of the marketing and product teams, providing an essential function by steering content workflow through DK and coordinating cross-functional teams so that all the “pieces” come together in an integrated fashion.   

The Traffic Manager will run the schedule and process overseeing projects from inception through completion and must understand the scope, business objectives, content strategy, and editorial calendar needs driving each project. This person will have line-of-sight across Marketing, Product, and Partnership initiatives (with an understanding of critical Dev/Tech projects) acting in a key operational role to help spin up projects, organize resources, and ensure team members moving against a schedule.

This position requires a self-motivated person with a problem-solving, can-do attitude who will take the initiative and work effectively with limited supervision. The Traffic Manager must be very organized and able to help the teams push multiple projects forward simultaneously. 

The role requires a person who has a solid understanding of mobile app development principles, who also is comfortable in a fast-paced content delivery environment, and has a level of expertise to facilitate the efficient distribution of content in external media campaigns. 

This position reports to the VP of Marketing and will have no direct reports. 

Key Responsibilities

Manage Cross-Functional Content Workflow 

  • Manage the content workflow of a cross-functional team across all phases of content creation, production, and distribution.
  • Establish processes and systems for managing workflow. Recommend project management software if necessary and oversee implementation and maintenance.   
  • Set timelines, coordinate internal team resources, and marshal external vendors to get projects done on time and within budget. 
  • Coordinate with the Marketing, Product, and Partnership teams to establish the editorial calendar. Then set due dates and run regular team meetings to facilitate asset delivery and review/approval processes. 
  • Field marketing requests from the Partnership team - assess the scope, define deliverables, set timelines, and manage those projects through delivery. 
  • Ensure cross-functional team members understand their assignments and help them deal with interdependencies and overcome roadblocks. Traffic content from one team to another. 
  • Assemble and communicate digital marketing & social media specs for ad units and organic content so the team can build out all requisite materials. 
  • Understand DK’s app/product specs, user experience, and data delivery mechanisms so that all product content & deliverables are built and delivered efficiently.  
  • Coordinate with internal teams on email and mobile push notifications so deliverables are synced with product and marketing automation campaigns. 
  • Ensure projects related to DK’s front-end website, social stores, and Amazon presence are coordinated closely with backend/eCommerce systems administered by the Fin-Ops team.
  • As needed, oversee the production of real-world marketing components, including physical assets for events, conventions, POS, and print collateral materials. Manage printing and manufacturing of physical marketing assets. 
  • Coordinate with DK’s media buying resources, internal and external, to ensure paid media components are delivered on time, run according to spec, and tracked effectively in DK’s reporting systems. 
  • Ensure the creative team administers photo and video shoots as part of the overall timeline.

  • Understand and apply knowledge about the sports of baseball and softball as well as the seasonal cycles of youth players, parents, and coaches throughout the year. 
  • Stay current on the business of baseball & softball across all sectors - especially sports-tech. 
  • Understand Diamond Kinetics’ technology, products, and services at a very deep level.
  • Understand partner and external customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
  • Stay informed about functional industry best practices, emerging technologies and approaches specifically related to mobile app development, digital marketing, and project management. 

Qualifications

Competencies and Experience

Experience Required

  • BA or BS – Business/Communications/Marketing Preferred.  
  • 5+  years of consistent success in a mobile dev environment, digital marketing agency, or tech company. 
  • Proven track record delivering content at scale in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with project management processes, tools, and software. 
  • Strong cognitive skills including problem-solving, decision-making, and analysis.
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
  • Work history in sports marketing or a baseball/softball environment is a plus.
