Job Description
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Catering Server to join our team in Victoria, Canada. In this role, you will be the face of our catering organization, delivering exceptional service to guests at various events and functions. As a Catering Server, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where attention to detail, efficiency, and a friendly demeanor are essential. You will be responsible for ensuring every guest receives outstanding service while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and food safety.
- Provide courteous and efficient food and beverage service to guests at catering events, banquets, and functions
- Set up and clear tables according to established service standards and event specifications
- Take guest orders accurately and communicate them to kitchen and bar staff
- Deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring proper presentation
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to answer guest questions
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the event and respond promptly to requests or concerns
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure guest health and safety
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate service flow and support colleagues during busy periods
- Handle cash and payment transactions accurately when required
- Clean and sanitize service areas, equipment, and utensils according to organizational standards
- Adapt to changing event requirements and guest needs with flexibility and professionalism
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food and beverage service or catering environments
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaborative work ethic
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
- Flexibility with scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Preferred: Previous catering or event service experience
- Preferred: Familiarity with table service etiquette and formal dining standards
- Preferred: Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Preferred: Food safety certification or training
