Job Description
WHAT'S THE JOB?
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this position is responsible for providing direct supervision to all matting and transportation field staff, along with scheduling and dispatch of drivers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles. The Supervisors’ responsibilities also consist of assigning drivers to trucks and providing accurate directions to work locations. The role includes providing support to all direct reports, in a fast paced, high call volume office environment and assist in completing operational tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
This role performs some or all of the following duties:
- Schedule and dispatch trucks, equipment, and crews to provide the most -timely service possible.
- Provide day to day supervision of field staff, as well as mentoring and coaching on a daily basis.
- Provide accurate directions to location.
- Relay required information to or from field staff, as required.
- Advise personnel about traffic problems such as road bans, weather conditions and other hazards.
- Receive and process transportation requirements such as permits, specialized issues.
- Monitor personnel and/or equipment locations in order to coordinate service and schedules.
- Arrange servicing of fleet vehicles and equipment, coordinate with operators when required and with Fleet Maintenance.
- Adhere to corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
- Approve employee leave, vacation and overtime; Approve time and payroll.
- Supervise, coach and mentor team ensuring all Dexterra Group policies and procedures are followed.
- Develop team members by providing regular feedback, having performance management conversations, when necessary and completing annual performance reviews.
- Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor and attitude at all times.
- Work in unison with other Supervisors and Operations Manager.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the matting and transportation industry;
- Experience in a supervisory role.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, changing priorities and firm deadlines are required;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills that include planning, organization and problem solving is ideal;
- Able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere.
- Intermediate knowledge of and work-related experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- A capacity to manage stress in a busy work environment.
- Work well with little or no supervision; possess ability to use good judgment and initiative.
