Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the District Manager (or Regional Operations Director), the Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing portfolios for a specific region to ensure safety, high quality service, efficiency and financial performance and execute the strategic vision of the Senior Leadership Team.  Operations Managers foster long-term relationships by delivering operational excellence to meet client and customer needs.

The OM will provide multi-level support to operations by assisting the District Manager with functional activities such as invoicing, purchasing, and supervising operations and assisting the front-line managers with hiring, recruitment, onboarding, auditing, and problem solving. The operations coordinator is a field-based position that works on a rotational basis and maintains a front facing, account level presence across all Horizon North sites in Manitoba.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting Lodge Managers, Chefs, and other front-line supervisors with innovative problem solving, troubleshooting, and project optimization.
  2. Conflict resolution
  3. Mentor and train all direct reports.
  4. With support of the Regional Operations Director and District Manager, develop, plan and budget to meet financial targets for the accounts and the division.
  5. Plan, oversee and operationalize the regional business plan.
  6. Facilitate, manage, and build client relationships.
  7. Strengthen and develop operational processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  8. Liaise with Regional Operations Director, District Manager and other OM’s and ensure the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives to all field operation groups.
  9. Provide leadership of the field operations team ensuring effective performance management and continued development.
  10. Support the implementation of operational improvements in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, finance, and employee performance.
  11. Communicate and share company standards and available resources that assist facility operations.
  12. Responding to emergency service call outs as required.
  13. Coordinate with other department leaders to find solutions to problems.
  14. Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety within all operations.
  15. Support the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities in key markets.
  16. Assist in effectively and efficiently managing the development of the Hospitality Operations team to promote high quality customer service and satisfaction.
  17. Other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Working Conditions:

  1. Office environment and telecommuting with a flexible work schedule, potentially requiring additional working hours as needed, to ensure business needs are continually met. 
  2. Ability to travel as necessary to meet business needs; ~70% of work to occur in the field.
  3. Possible 14/14 or 20/10 rotational schedule.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of Operations OR Hospitality or Culinary Management experience.
  2. Post-Secondary Education in Hospitality, Culinary, Management or Business-related degree is considered an asset.
  3. Familiar with current remote Camp and Catering standard.
  4. Proven leadership, motivational and people management skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain employees.
  6. Demonstrated financial management skills.
  7. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  8. Experience with Netsuite or other cloud accounting software.
  9. Class 5 Licensed Driver with clean abstract.

Competencies: 

  1. Experience in multi-unit management, hospitality industry or hotel industry considered an asset.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to excel in a fast paced, highly challenging and change oriented environment.
  4. Superior critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  5. Strong leadership and people management skills.
