Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the VP Human Resources Operations, you will drive programs, policies, processes and systems designed to ensure organizational leaders are enabled and equipped to manage employee and labour relations in a self- service delivery environment. 

You will develop and promote a stable and constructive employee and labour relations strategy to ensure alignment with organizational goals, enhance communication, ensure consistency with priorities, and mitigate risks, costs and decision guidance. You will also be responsible for compliance with legislation matters and employment security in all operating provinces and territories and sectors. The Director develops and implements strategies and programs aligned with High Performance Organization characteristics designed to ensure the capability for top performance. 

Select responsibilities include:

  • Provides expert advice and guidance to colleague HR Business Partners and organizational leaders in the negotiation, administration and interpretation of collective agreements.  Act as chief negotiator, as required.
  • Ensures compliance in all employment matters related to legislation and employment security. Leads in implementing change to ensure organizational requirements are met.
  • Ensures effective and efficient process and compliance related to matters involving third parties such as Ministry of Labour and Human Rights Tribunal.
  • Designs, develops and implements strategies and processes that align to business and HR strategies and priorities, with the goal of equipping and enabling leaders to drive organizational performance.
  • Designs, develops and implements learning segments for leadership development.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant area of study.
  • Certified Human Resources professional designation, or HR profession-specific certification
  • 5 or more years of in-depth experience in labour relations with emphasis on conflict resolution, workplace investigations, grievance and arbitration process, collective bargaining
  • 2-3 plus years professional experience in a leadership role building and leading a team with regards to employee development, coaching, and employment- related practices within complex business environments.
  • Proven track record of developing plans and strategies related to employee and labour relations and matters of compliance to legislation and employment-related security
