Job Description

As a Cook, reporting to the Chef Manager, you will be responsible for the proper and timely preparation of meals including, but not limited to, food service, food safety and supervision of kitchen staff.
Your work will include:
- Planning, preparing, presenting, and serving high quality menus in accordance to season, budget and promotional guidelines.
- Be flexible and respond to client needs and food preferences as necessary.
- Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Safe Food Handling/Health Unit regulations.
- Always maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and food storage areas.
- Maintain inventory, ordering and proficient management of food/stock products.
- Maintain accurate, signed H&S records as required.
- Adhere to all relevant Dexterra and hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- You have at least 3 years experience as a Cook in food service preparation kitchen cooking from ‘scratch’.
- You have current/valid food safety certification
- You have knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, GFS, Outlook)
- Experience cooking with all types of equipment (ie slicer, oven, fryer, stove, steamer etc..)
- Experience in maintaining budget, inventory control
- Experience creating menus an asset
Physical Demands:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders or stairs.
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time.
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
- Work with arms above shoulder height.
