Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB? 

A floor care specialist in our Special Services Crew will ensure that the floor care programs are delivered as part of the preventative maintenance plan and that the work is carried out on a schedule to ensure service levels are met with clients.

The position will also respond to calls as required however will need to be flexible with shift times and locations of work.  Working nights and irregular hours – sometimes switching between nights and days within the same week and working in confined spaces. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Class G drivers license (required)
  • Candidates needs to be able to drive a van hauling an equipment trailer, drive in reverse with a trailer, safely load and secure equipment on the trailer.
  • Floor refinishing experience – waxing and buffing.
  • Carpet/upholstery extraction cleaning
  • Power washing
  • High dusting
  • Glass cleaning
  • Detailed cleaning of spaces such as kitchens, industrial spaces, new construction projects
  • Excellent hard surface cleaning experience
  • Strong understanding on the use of floor care equipment
  • Ensures equipment is always in good working condition. 
  • Security clearance eligibility (mandatory) as this is needed to be able to work throughout the airport and a variety of buildings.
  • Responds to the management team requests.
  • Be aware of exits, safety items and equipment when in different areas of Pearson Airport.
  • Convey a professional and welcoming presence by interacting with members of the traveling public while multi-tasking.
  • Possess clear, concise communication skills in English.
  • Listen carefully and have patience with all passengers or visitors to Pearson.
  • Be proactive and assist passengers and guests by solving problems or directing them to the airline/stakeholder or information kiosk for assistance.
  • Take direction and react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Maintain sharp observation skills along with awareness of surroundings.
  • Report any incident, safety or maintenance issues, cleaning requirements in an efficient and detailed manner.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by Supervisor or management.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Attends all required health & safety training.
  • Works in a safe manner and follows safe work instructions and assists in prevention.
  • Complies with H&S regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attends all technical training for the role as required.
  • Engages and assists passengers in the terminal as necessary.
  • Becomes an I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador
  • Does not operate any equipment without prior training.
  • Always uses personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to CSA approved steel-toe protective shoes.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions, hazards and all workplace injuries to supervisor or manager.
  • Participates in the early and safe return to work process as per our RTW policy.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain validity of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Able to undertake small repairs, good with general tools.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Good command of English and communication skills
  • Ability to read and follow layout instructions.
  • Ability to be able to walk for long periods of time throughout terminal buildings.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment.
  • Ability to work individually or within a team.
  • Available to work all shifts days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
