Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

In various roles such as Housekeepers, General Helpers/Kitchen Assistants and Janitors, the support staff is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and functionality of the site day-to-day activities. 

The position involves a remote work lifestyle with a 14 day on/14 day off rotation in a mine camp setting with the following amenities:

  • All meals and accommodation provided free of charge
  • Free travel provided to site  
  • Private room
  • Access to Wi-Fi
  • Cable TV in your room
  • Linens & towels provided 
  • Access to laundry facilities
  • Access to a gym and sauna

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily cleaning and sanitization of guest rooms and shared washrooms
  • Daily sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of guest rooms, common areas and dorm hallways
  • Garbage and recycling collection and removal
  • Floor care, including sweeping prior to using the T-300 floor scrubber
  • Clean and sanitize all public washrooms
  • Clean and sanitize management offices as well as the front desk area
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas (including storage rooms and housekeeping cart) throughout the shift
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Follow all safety controls related to COVID including regular handwashing, proper use of PPE and enhanced cleaning/sanitation requirements
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?

  • Must have the ability to successfully pass drug an alcohol screening upon arrival 
    • legal and illegal substances tested for include alcohol, amphetamines, cannabis and cannabis related products, cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamines, opiates, phencyclidine, hydromorphone, 6-monoacetylmorphine, fentanyl, oxycodone, etc. 
  • Must be based within the Thunder Bay - Sault Ste. Marie District 
  • Great Attitude! 
  • Committed to full time employment
  • Valid Food Safe certificate is an asset.
  • Current Level 1 First Aid certificate is an asset.
  • Previous camp setting experience is an asset.
  • Be able to handle the following physical demands:
    • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Climb ladders or stairs.
    • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time.
    • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands.
    • Perform work with arms at full length.
    • Work with arms above shoulder height.

Work Schedule and Remuneration:

Support staff work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on/14 days off. They may be expected to work weekdays, weekends, and general holidays.

Wages are paid on an hourly basis and include a starting rate of $18.36.
