Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

As a Site Superintendent, reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be directly responsible for the operations and logistics of the assigned work site(s). 

Your work will include:

  • Establish first on site services, manpower requirements and accommodations prior to project commencement.
  • Manage the working logistics of job locations while maintaining the overall efficiency of the project through monitoring and evaluation of work scope proficiency factors.
  • Work directly with Project Managers to integrate the contract deliverables with regards to the install, as well as building solutions in the field to challenging, out of scope, or changing site conditions.
  • Supervise and mentor all employees in modular solutions and commercial construction.  In consultation with Human Resources, the Site Superintendent will provide supervision in the area of leadership training, performance evaluations, company policies, and disciplinary action required.
  • Liaison and resolve day-to-day situations with safety, production, quality, engineers, critical paths, site scheduling, subcontractors, budgeting, vendors, inspectors and clients.
  • Implement all company Health and Safety programs and be responsible to ensure compliance with WSIB and OHSA, including safety training or certification for all employees and trades onsite.
  • Facilitate and work in conjunction with quality control to ensure onsite quality requirements are understood and completed through reporting, documentation, building codes, best practices and continuous improvements.
  • Develop takeoffs, material orders, implement design change recommendations, and request for information to efficiently use materials, labor and equipment to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
  • Develop onsite project plans and assume overall responsibility for project profit and loss once awarded.
  • Produce daily project status reports, manage budgets for day to day expenditures, maintain progress and completion schedules and develop reports for tracking and forecasting costs. 
  • Supervise and mentor medium (20) to large (120) crews.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

  • Successful completion of a related Trade Certification acquired at an accredited university or Trades College; and/ or a college diploma in construction technology/project management.
  • Minimum of 8 years of multiple trades-related work experience on construction sites, in numerous residential and commercial projects, with an ancillary background in modular applications. 
  • Considered to have extensive knowledge of construction leadership, logistics and operations on sites that have multiple contract deliverables and partnerships.
  • A history of success on multiple large scale residential and/or commercial building projects.
  • A well-developed understanding of the efficient building process, and industry best practices of construction.
  • A multi-disciplinary background that includes experience with civil, foundations, craning, rigging, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, commissioning and turnover requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate organizational, time-management and decision-making skills with a minimum 8 years’ experience in a leadership position on small to large projects in the 1M to 80M range.
  • Able to manage a fluctuating workload and set project priorities, while continuing to meet deadlines.  
  • Able to work individually with a focus on the overall management of employees. Experience having leadership roles with responsibility for 40+ employees and multiple contractors.
  • The position is required to be flexible to meet changing business needs and schedule fluctuations.
  • Able to perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lb.
