Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?
Join our NRB Modular Solutions team, where our people are driven by a desire to innovate, do social good, and move construction forward.

As a Design Lead, Electrical, reporting to the Director, Design and Engineering, you will oversee the day-to-day activities of our team of electrical designers, ensuring the accurate and timely creation/administration of technical electrical deliverables. You will be an effective member of the team from concept to client handover.

As a Subject Matter Expert in Electrical design and methods, you will support the development and interpretation of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications of electrical systems for modular building layouts to be used at proposal stages, project execution phase, and in manufacturing processes. You will be accountable for ensuring that design complies with applicable electrical codes, NRB standards and client design data.

Your work will include:

  • Accountable for successful execution of electrical design and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle
  • Act as project point person and technical liaison for the electrical design team with the project managers, procurement, manufacturing, and site, to proactively support their teams.
  • Lead and check design information with consideration for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical federal, provincial and local regulations and NRB standards.
  • Prepare proposal electrical specifications and ensure electrical designs meet or exceed client expectations and contract requirements.
  • Work closely with Architectural, Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical Engineering consulting partners to complete designs and resolve challenges, while ensuring deliverables within the schedule.
  • Lead and ensure the quality of production drawings for electrical elements, specifications, and BOMs (bill of materials)
  • Lead standardization of electrical components and equipment.
  • Forecast and plan project resources for engineering and design in consultation with Director, Design & Engineering.
  • Develop Design team members by supporting professional development, providing regular feedback to promote the utilization of best practices, and completing annual performance reviews.
  • Accountable for performance of the subsequent team members using project controls (schedule, quality, and cost)
  • Ensure Continuous Improvement (CI) methods and processes are followed and supply ongoing input into CI.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Trade certification or Technology Diploma specializing in Electrical studies or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 7 + years experience relating the electrical design for commercial, industrial, hospitality & residential buildings.
  • 3 + years experience in progressive supervisory or leadership responsibility
  • Experience with wood-frame or steel-frame/panels building technology relating to commercial, industrial, residential and/or hospitality with progressive supervisory or leadership responsibility.
  • Experience with modular/factory-built construction and BOM (Bill of Materials) is required
  • Ability to read, create and edit electrical specifications and detailed construction drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Autodesk ACC software is considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).
  • Efficient use of AutoCAD, & Bluebeam is required.
  • Experience with scheduling and scheduling programs
