Job Description

Job Purpose:

A Driver for the Baggage Cart Contract program is generally responsible for retrieving, loading and delivering baggage carts to designated Terminal areas using a company provided truck and trailer. We offer afternoon and overnight shifts. Afternoon shifts - pay $16.50/hr. and overnight shifts pay  $17.50/hr. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and retrieve baggage carts throughout the Terminal buildings including all parking facilities
  • Effectively communicate with supervisors, baggage cart associates, and other drivers to maintain operational efficiency
  • Completes a pre-check of truck and trailer condition prior to starting any work
  • Coordinate with Leads and Supervisors for pick up routes and times as per daily operations
  • Maintain with care equipment assigned to you, ensure cleaned after using, and returned to management at shift end
  • Ensure cleanliness of vehicles and maintenance of truck and trailer 
  • Must follow posted speed limits and proceed with caution on Airport property
  • Follow written and verbal instruction given by all supervisors 
  • Ensures courtesy given when working around passengers and other vehicles when driving
  • Continually keep an eye out for any litter or wet spills while working, picking up any litter or debris when possible; informing a supervisor immediately if you notice a wet spill or safety hazard related to Pearson
  • Ensures the proper tools are used for the designated task
  • Engages and assists passengers in the terminal as necessary & attends I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador sessions, or any relevant training related to assisting passengers
  • Attends all technical training for the role as required
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of company related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential information; 

Qualifications

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Attend all required health & safety training
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Follow safe work instructions and assists in prevention
  • Complies with H&S regulations and company policies
  • Ensure any accidents/incidents are reported to their Supervisor immediately
  • Does not operate any equipment without prior training
  • Use all required PPE (safety shoes & high-vis vests)
  • Reports any unsafe conditions, hazards and all workplace injuries
  • Participates in the early and safe return to work process as per our RTW policy

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Able to speak and read english
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must have a clean driver abstract
  • Must be legally obligated to operate a motor vehicle
  • Able to understand training and be familiar with emergency procedures for the building and role
  • Strong organizational, time management skills; able to prioritize tasks
  • Adherence to standards and procedures
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Resilience, with the ability to work under pressure; GTAA properties are a 24/7 business environment.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid RAIC at all time
