WHAT'S THE JOB?

Join our NRB Modular Solutions team, where our people are driven by a desire to innovate, do social good, and move construction forward.

As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely and meet the highest quality standards. You must fully understand the project scope, schedule and deliverables and you'll be responsible for assigning specific project resources to meet the project requirements.

Your work will include:

  • Collaborate with Project Management and Sales to develop a project scope of work and budget.
  • Ensure all permits, approvals, sub-contracts, agreements and any other required documents are in place prior to project start. 
  • Develop and collaborate with project management and subcontracts team to ensure complete subcontractor scope of work packages are in place prior to subtrade tenders to avoid unforeseen scopes when mobilizing to site.
  • Oversee the formation of and adherence to site safety plans and assist the Superintendent in ensuring that all projects are undertaken in a safe manner.
  • Thoroughly review all Project documents, plans, and specifications and establish a Project Tendering Plan that considers all aspects of the project.
  • Prepare Project Master Schedule with input from the project manager, superintendent and subcontractors.
  • Review project requirements and establish a Submittal Schedule identifying all required Shop Drawings, Samples, Color Chips, and Mock‐ups for the project.
  • Review project estimate and modify labor productivity analysis.
  • Review and determine major equipment requirements with the Project Manager and Superintendent, including temporary heating systems, cranes, hoists, and other major equipment.
  • Oversee the whole of site operations, with the assistance of a site coordinator, including supervision of +/-16 superintendents and forepeople and upwards of 150 different subtrade vendors, which may include up to 1,500 people, at any one time.

What success in the role will look like:

  • Be open to travel. This position will be approximately 60% field based, fluctuating +/-10% based on project milestones, requiring frequent travel to job sites across, rural, urban and remote locations. Travel may be at a moments notice due to unforeseen circumstances with field logistics, environmental issues, and/or coverage for supervisors in the field.
  • Project timelines are established for each approved project, with defined project goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables.
  • All site budget, quality and schedule KPI’s are met, weekly, monthly, and quarterly according to the site profit and loss component of budgets set with the input of this position at the outset of the project.
  • Customer expectations are consistently exceeded with the development and continuous improvement of methods, systems, and processes in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Setting clear performance goals for your team and external vendors to achieve project margins.
  • External facing client relations with respect to active project sites are managed representing NRB in a positive, inclusive and collaborative manner, achieving client satisfaction.
  • Leading and participating in high risk negotiations with clients and external vendors to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education from an accredited university or college in Business Commerce, Civil Engineering; and/or A college diploma in construction technology.
  • Minimum ten years of related construction experience.
  • Extensive wood frame construction experience.
  • Experience in working with municipal jurisdictions on building permits and approvals required for large commercial projects.
