Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?
As a Staff Accountant you will be reporting to the Vice President. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring invoices are generated for multiple product lines and revenue streams. Additionally, they will be responsible for ensuring the company develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors. This includes overall responsibility for all outgoing funds, payments for invoices, expense claims, deposits, and prepayments.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design new processes, implement new tools and build strong relationships with operations and other shared service function groups. This role demands proven leadership skills and abilities that are required for process analysis and implementation, coaching and development of all staff, outstanding communication skills, strategic decision making and proven experience successfully partnering with others.

Your work will include:

  • Prepare month-end accounting entries for prepaid, leases, revenue accruals, cost accruals, and intercompany
  • Perform individual project margin analysis for percentage of completion, accuracy, completeness, and closure.
  • Analytical monthly review of the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including intercompany and the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Preparation of Forecast/Budgets and monthly variance analysis by working closely with the Project Management Team.
  • Preparation of month-end financial reporting package with analysis for the Senior Leadership Team
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analysis through collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
  • Preparation of year-end audit working papers including assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures.
  • Direct and oversee the timely and accurate billing of customers across multiple lines of business and revenue streams to a variety of customers.
  • Accountability for a variety of business metrics including: Billing timeliness, accuracy and quality.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate staff and team development, including cross training, as appropriate.
  • Foster an environment of continues learning and development.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Accounting designation is preferred, and post-secondary education in accounting is required.
  • Solid IT and systems skills including the use of ERP systems and financial models.  Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, particularly prepaid and accrued expenses.
  • Experience in preparing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of asset management, corporate finance, and accounting.
