Job Description

As the Lead Janitor, reporting to the Manager, you will supervise and help coordinate staff and will be responsible for assisting and maintaining the cleanliness of our site facilities to the highest level.

This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit to work testing as a condition of employment. 

Your work will include:

  • Opening and closing shift duties 
  • Ensuring all member of the team are aware of their daily responsibilities and assigned areas
  • Training new staff members Providing access keys, PPE and supplies as needed
  • Complete Quality Inspections and Reporting
  • Assist Manager with all paperwork required for reporting purposes
  • Driving and transporting staff and supplies
  • Assist Manager with inventory management 
  • Work with Janitors when starting new Facilities and on daily tasks
  • Providing training to new and existing employees

Cleaning Responsibilities (when required to support Janitors):

  • Common area cleaning (Offices, Lunchrooms, Kitchens)
  • Cleaning washrooms
  • Collecting and transporting garbage
  • Sweeping and mopping the floor
  • Vacuuming the carpets
  • High dusting the common area
  • Cleaning windows
  • Operating the auto scrubber
  • Completes all other duties as required or assigned by the Manager

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in educational programs and in-service trainings
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Complete assigned tasks in a professional manner and within the time frame provided
  • Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related legislation
  • Represent the department with a professional and positive attitude
  • Perform other related duties as required and as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications

  • Class 5 Driver's License (without restriction) is mandatory for this role.
  • A Positive attitude
  • Supervisor experience leading a diverse team
  • Ability to conduct safety meetings
  • You must possess a strong knowledge of commercial janitorial duties and able to resolve related concern from employees  
  • Knowledge of standard commercial janitorial cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
  • Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and build relationships with others
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and organize work schedules for employees
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds
  • Efficient in report writing, scheduling and email communication
  • Proficiency using email, word-processing, spreadsheets, and mobile devices.
