As the Production Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, you will oversee the production activities of the Manufacturing Plant that are directly related to manufacturing of all buildings and structures constructed in the Plant. This will involve managing the operations of the modular Manufacturing Plant, including production facilities, building structures, equipment, and people, while liaising with appropriate Managers to ensure materials, quality of products and services, safety, and designs meet or exceed expectations.

Your work will include:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the portable building manufacturing division.
  • Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labour, and equipment to meet production targets.
  • Plan and manage plant and departmental budgets and production schedules.
  • Run pre-production meetings to ensure strong communication amongst all production teams.
  • Ensure an inventory of raw materials and finished products are maintained.
  • Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and methods of work.
  • Develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines.
  • Develop team members by supporting professional development, providing regular feedback to promote the utilization of best practices, and completing annual performance reviews.
  • Plan hiring needs, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques to complete assigned units and obtain an effective, efficient flow of work.
  • Monitor and manage employee relations, in combination with HR when required, including but not limited to; employee absenteeism and tardiness, employee complaints and issues, employee misdemeanor, employee insubordination, employee breach of company policies, etc. to ensure goals and objectives of the Plant are being met.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Preferred completion of a university program in Business Commerce, Civil Engineering and/or a college diploma in Construction Technology.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role. Experience in a construction/production environment will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop subordinates’ skills and encourage growth.
  • Above average computer knowledge, specifically in Microsoft Office Suite is required. 
  • Ability to manage a fluctuating workload and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Diligent in ensuring the health and safety of self and co-workers.
  • A track record of maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with employees and clients.
