WHAT’S THE JOB?
Join our NRB Modular Solutions team, where our people are driven by a desire to innovate, do social good, and move construction forward.

The Exterior Finishing Lead Hand, reporting to the Foreman, assumes responsibility for leading the team in their department focusing around production, quality, and safety. This includes monitoring and inspecting work, and organization of area and materials and design pieces. The Exterior Finishing Lead Hand also participates in the planning, laying out, construction, repair and assembly of temporary and permanent buildings, additions, partitions and wood structures and fixtures. In this role, you will work 4 days per week, at 10 hours per day.

This position is safety sensitive and requires drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Your work will include:

• Monitor work activities, give directions to employees, and participate in the work performed by production workers. 
• Train new personnel in proper work techniques and in use of supplies, materials and equipment.  
• Make recommendations to Foreman regarding required training needs of crew members.
• Assist Foreman in planning and scheduling work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignment and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.  
• Establish and coordinate preventive rules and work practices to reduce and eliminate repair and maintenance.
• Assist Foreman with the completion of Job Hazards Assessments and Accident and Incident reports.
• Responsible for the quality of work performed in all manufactured products to ensure it meets all company or contract standards with recommendations for improvements where needed.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• At least 6 years of related experience.
• Post-secondary education from a vocational institution with a Red Seal in a certified craft or trade.
• Practical knowledge of the application of Lead Hand techniques and methods normally acquired through 3 years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• Leadership qualities include ability to instruct and maintain effective and efficient productivity from departmental personnel.
• Knowledge of the construction/manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
• Able to train staff as necessary.
• Work independently with minimal direction using good judgement and initiative; i.e. creating work projects to keep staff productive when time is available.
• Treat all employees fairly and equally.
