Job Description

Dexterra requires an experienced, reliable, bondable, permanent Full Time Afternoon Exterior & Loading Dock Cleaning Porter from 2 pm to 10:00 pm. At the Bay Centre in Victoria B.C. Canada immediately. Days to be determined.

Wage Rate: $15.20 per hour

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning the Exterior and loading dock areas to maintain the general appearance of the Bay Centre daily;
  • Assisting with general portering and cleaning of men's washrooms when required;
  • Disposing of garbage on the loading dock in compactor as needed daily;
  • Disposing of cardboard on the loading dock in compactor as needed daily;
  • Emptying and cleaning of compost and garbage bins daily;
  • Responding to garbage and compost removal calls from the food court as needed daily;
  • Keeping the interior and exterior of freight elevators clean;
  • Coordinating the transfer of recycle and refundable bins and materials for scheduled pick-ups as needed;
  •  Removing, transferring and storing wood & plastic pallets from service areas of the building;
  • Sweeping & mopping exterior sidewalks and patios daily;
  • Mopping spills and biohazards around the exterior as needed daily;
  • Power washing, hosing sidewalks or seasonal snow removal as required daily;
  • Cleaning and washing of brick features, walls, light standards, and awning cleaning as required daily;
  • Cleaning & polishing of exterior brass features daily;
  • Cleaning and emptying of exterior garbage cans daily;
  • Cleaning exterior door glass and public elevator steel daily;
  • Cleaning and sanitizing exterior entrance and exit doors daily;
  • Maintaining detailed work and safety logs daily;
  • Maintaining all company and clients safety and security procedures;
  • Project and detail cleaning work as required by management;

Qualifications

Qualified Applicants must have the following:

1.      applicants must have a clean criminal record;

2.      applicants must have valid I.D. and be able to work in Canada

Successful applicants will be able to meet the following requirements:

·         applicants with commercial cleaning experience are preferred, but specific training will be provided;

·         applicants that have experience with cleaning chemicals, and machines including power washers, tucker poles, vacuums, wet vacuums, carpet extractors, floor machines, and hand tools for sweeping, mopping, dusting etc. are preferred but training will be provided;

·         follow all Dexterra company policies at all times

·         follow the company pandemic cleaning program at all times 

·         be detail oriented and thorough completing tasks

·         be able to complete all tasks within time frames to meet or exceed deadlines

·         work in a safe and efficient manner

·         follow all company and client safety and security procedures at all times

·         be courteous and maintain a professional attitude at all times

·         be able to work & multitask in a busy public service facility to meet requirements
