Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

As a Shipper Receiver – Lead Hand, reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be in a frontline leadership role encompassing full process  for the day to day operations of the Warehouse. This position gives direction to the Warehouse Associates for daily performance and ensuring that safety regulations are met, as well as providing exceptional service delivery to customers both internal and external. This role requires leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills and attention to detail. The shift is 7:00AM – 3:30PM.

This position is safety sensitive and requires drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Your work will include:

  • Assume lead responsibility in assigned work areas; monitor work activities, give directions to the Warehouse Associates, and participate in the work performed within the warehouse. 
  • Assist warehouse management with work assignments; monitor work activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency and completion of work scheduled.
  • Train new employees in proper work techniques and in use of supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Assist warehouse management, in planning and scheduling work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignment.
  • Prepare and arrange scheduled shipments as needed.
  • Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries; sort and distribute incoming shipments.
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking of all inbound and outbound shipments, including PO receipts into Company systems.
  • Use a powered forklift to load and unload, move or stack materials or products.
  • Facilitate safe work practices, and procedures geared towards an atmosphere that comply and exceeds with all Health and Safety Standards.  Have a sound working knowledge of all liabilities and enforcement of all policies and procedures regarding the Health and Safety regulations for the province of Alberta.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a warehouse position picking and packing orders.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operating procedures and protocol with proven supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Forklift Driver Certification
  • Knowledge of construction tools and equipment is required.
  • Netsuite and Great Plains experience an asset
  • Small equipment repair an asset
  • Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Air brakes experience an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft office suite
  • Able to safely and comfortably carry out physical duties – lift max 50 lb and walk on rough terrain.
  • Walks approximately 2-4 kilometers per day on a variety of surfaces including, concrete and gravel.
