Job Description

Based in a world class camp facility, rotations for this position may be twenty-eight (28) days on and Fourteen (14) days off. Transportation is provided to site by flight from Edmonton, 

Make an Impact
The General Helper /Housekeeper is responsible for assisting in the overall kitchen operations and maintenance as well as cleaning and sanitizing of designated kitchen areas, tools, equipment, pots, and dishes. They are also responsible in ensuring the over-all cleanliness of our facilities to the highest level.

You will be required to arrange reliable transportation to and from site daily.

This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment.  

What you’ll do

  • Wash, scrub, clean, and sanitize designated kitchen and dining areas
  • Clean kitchen and dining room floors and tables
  • Clean refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipment
  • Wash pots, dishes, glasses, cups, etc., after each meal and as required
  • Deep cleaning as required
  • Restock and rotate desserts, sandwiches, beverages, and condiments
  • Assist in loading, unloading, and placing supplies and inventory
  • Conducting walk-downs - cleaning up to rooms per day and may vary depending on client occupancy
  • Full housekeeping services in guest rooms and hallways:
  • Making the beds and changing linen weekly; or as needed
  • Vacuuming and dusting all room furniture blinds including hallways
  • Washing, scrubbing and sanitizing bathroom, windows and mirrors
  • Emptying garbage from all sleeping areas including trash and recycling collection
  • Washing and folding towels, linens and beddings
  • Maintaining an accurate record of all bedding allotted in lodge, assist with the inventory, and report any shortages to the Lodge Manage
  • Ensure health and safety regulations and quality standards are maintained
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required

Qualifications

  • You are fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have a minimum 6 months’ kitchen or catering experience in Food Service Industry, hospitality environment or remote lodge setting
  • You have at least FoodSafe Level I. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.  
  • You are able to prioritize multiple demands and organize a work schedule
  • You have a strong customer service focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • You have the ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player
  • You are able to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds
  • You are able to obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
