Job Description

As a full time Rig Cook, you are responsible for ensuring food production schedules are aligned with client operation schedules, meal preparation for breakfast, dinner, rig boxes and baked goods, quality and cost control, scheduling, and employee performance management. Other duties include:

  • - Supervising, managing, and overseeing all food and general site operations
  • Hands-on cooking and preparing: Breakfast, Rig boxes, Dinner, Baked goods from scratch
  • Ensuring top quality meals are served according to weekly menu plan, menu specifications, dietary constraints and crew size
  • Preparing, storing and transporting appropriate meals for rig boxes
  • Conducting weekly inventory, menu planning and grocery
  • Ensuring food hygiene regulations are carried out in accordance with the Food Safety Act
  •  Ensuring work areas and equipment are sanitized, cleaned, and maintained on a regular basis
  • Leading daily Workplace Health and Safety committee meetings
  • Compile reports on safety, inventory , menu planning, client numbers and staffing requirements
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

This position is safety sensitive, and as such will require pre-employment alcohol, drug and fitness to work testing as a condition of employment.

- Completion of a Journeyman Certificate as a Cook

FoodSafe Level I is minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.  

Minimum 5 years’ experience cooking and serving a variety of cuisines

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a progressive supervisory role

- Experience in remote lodging and/or oil and gas industry

- Proven leadership skills in people management and conflict resolution

- Strong computer skills and working knowledge with Microsoft Office suite

- Ability to foster positive working relationships with co-workers

- Ability to conduct safety, staff and menu briefing meetings

Work rotation: The normal work rotation consists of  20 days on and 10 days off, with 12 hour work days
