Job Description

Reporting to the WCB Claims manager, you will work with and support the business utilizing best practices to ensure that effective claims management initiatives are integrated and considered in daily management practices.

THINGS YOU ARE GREAT AT

  • Coordinating the company-wide worker’s compensation claims management programs including accident review, return to work and claims management for Provincial Workers Compensation.
  • Aligning worker’s compensation claims management programs and activities with the organizations' and department/unit objectives.
  • Working within timeline requirements for claims submission and communication with provincial compensation boards
  • Building effective and collaborative relationships
  • Facilitating and monitoring early and safe return to work programs throughout the business groups.
  • Identifying opportunities for and facilitating third-party medical assessments.
  • A fantastic communicator and trainer showcasing the importance of claims management program practices as well as promoting the involvement and contribution of stakeholders to support procedures and programs
  • Creating reviewing and verifying statistics, reporting and invoicing data   

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a health-related field or Disability Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience dealing with Occupational health or Disability management issues, employment legislation, human rights and other claims related issues.

  • Experience in interpreting information regarding medical restrictions to enable appropriate business decisions are made.
  • Experience with appealing decisions of provincial Workers Compensation Boards.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Employment and Occupational Health and Safety Legislation including the Human Rights Code and Provincial Worker’s Compensation legislation.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications particularly Word and Excel.
  • There may be a travel at times, a valid driving licence is required
