Product Business Analyst – Automated Clearing House (ACH)


About the role:

As a Product Business Analyst, ACH, you will play a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of ACH processing solutions.  This role requires an understanding of ACH payment systems, payment system risk, Nacha Operating Rules & Guidelines, Nacha format, technology, and market trends.  You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, product owners, developers, technical architects, and stakeholders to deliver and support innovative ACH solutions that meet the needs of financial institutions and comply with payment system rules and regulatory requirements.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands ACH product strategy, market and industry trends, and client needs and goals.
  • Work closely with Product Manager on strategic business planning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Conduct market research.
  • Works with stakeholders to understand business problem statements, analyze, and document requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed product documentation, release notes and client bulletins.
  • Define project goals and scope, participate in product design and tactical decisions.
  • Identify areas for product and process improvement, provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Prepare information and presentations for stakeholders and team members to address questions regarding proposed product designs and decisions.
  • Work closely with Product Owner to document user story acceptance criteria, accepts user stories, refines user stories with Scrum teams.
  • Work closely with Product Owner to review and provide feedback on test plans to ensure application changes meet acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in requirements validation, including user acceptance testing sessions and product demonstrations.
  • Applies Agile methods and processes to promote a disciplined project management process that encourages frequent inspection and adaptation of ongoing work product.
  • Stay informed about payment system rules, laws, and regulations impacting ACH to ensure products remain compliant.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure stability and security of ACH product solutions.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems.
  • Three years’ experience in business analysis or Fintech product experience/knowledge.
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification preferred, but not required.
  • Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP) certification preferred, but not required.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH).
  • Knowledge of Nacha Operating Rules, laws, and regulations applicable to ACH payments.
  • Knowledge of FIS products and services or similar Fintech solutions.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience and systems development environment experience are preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in project management and development tools such as Rally, Jira, Jenkins, Clarity, and Planview.
  • Ability to plan and execute requirement analysis in a logical, structured, and systematic manner.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, technical, documentation, and people skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors).
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external clients and contacts.
