Job Description

FIS JOB DESCRIPTION
Systems programmer with development experience. Solid skills with high level of proficiency. Works under general supervision with increased latitude for independent judgment. Identifies non-routine issues and routes/escalates to appropriate team member. May consult with senior peers on certain projects. Works on multiple concurrent projects of medium complexity. Provides project status reports to management or senior peers. Is an active team member, contributes to complex projects to gain experience, shares ideas and suggests process improvements appropriate for level of experience. Typically requires of two to five years programming experience in a technical environment. Review, analyze, develop, install, modify, and maintain internally developed software solutions in the monitoring space. Develop and support automated services. Perform support for systems monitoring.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a lead role in software development efforts
  • Collaborate with management, support groups, clients, or other stakeholders to identify end-user requirements and specifications for new development efforts
  • Design and diagram solutions to include environment layout and data flow pathways
  • Produce scalable, efficient, and elegant code based on requirements
  • Establish API or out of the box integrations with other applications and data sources
  • Test and deploy internally developed solutions and applications
  • Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing services
  • Observe user feedback to recommend improvements to existing services/applications
  • Demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking and solutioning
  • Develop technical documentation
  • Train team members, NOC resources, support team members engineers, and other stakeholders on newly developed solutions and feature enhancements

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have experience in design, development and debugging of large-scale complex data processing solutions
  • Understanding of Network concepts and network devices
  • Familiarity with protocols such as SNMP, DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, TCP/IP, OSI layers
  • Rest API design, development, and integration experience
  • Network Management Systems experience with preference for Spectrum, Zabbix, Network Automation, NNM, etc.
  • Experience in configuration management and scripting is a plus with tools such as Ansible, Network Automation, shell scripting, Python, Go
  • Good understanding of frameworks like gRPC, IPMI, OpenTelemetry are a plus
  • Hands on knowledge of Linux/Unix

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
