Purpose

The Senior Data Analyst acts as a bridge between IT and Finance, supporting SAP BW and related finance applications from a functional perspective. The role focuses on understanding finance processes, translating business needs into requirements, maintaining mappings and hierarchies, supporting users, and ensuring stable and secure system operations. This position is closer to a functional consultant role than a software developer role.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Act as the interface between Finance, IT, product owners, development teams, and end users.
• Analyze business requests and translate them into functional and technical requirements.
• Support SAP BW and CDM topics, including mappings, hierarchies, master data, reporting logic, and content maintenance.
• Act as deputy/support for CDM-related activities, helping to keep CDM content consistent and up to date.
• Support users with incidents, access requests, application errors, functional questions, and recurring operational tasks.
• Maintain and update mapping files and other functional content required for correct system behavior.
• Support financial planning, accounts receivable, and other finance-related applications not fully covered by the core team.
• Coordinate requirements and tasks in Jira and support agile delivery activities such as sprint preparation and PI Planning.
• Support testing, validation, documentation, and communication of system changes.
• Contribute to stable operations, content security, data quality, and a zero-outage mindset.

YOU WILL SUCCEED IF YOU:

• Have several years of experience as a Data Analyst, Functional Consultant, Business Analyst, SAP BW Consultant, or similar role.
• Have strong experience working at the interface between IT and Finance.
• Have very good understanding of finance processes, controlling, financial planning, reporting, and ERP-based data flows.
• Have experience with SAP ERP finance processes, especially CO and FI.
• Have experience with SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA from a functional or reporting perspective.
• Have experience with CDM, mappings, hierarchies, master data, or enterprise data models is an advantage.
• Have experience with user support, access management, incident handling, and recurring operational tasks.
• Have experience with agile ways of working, Jira, Scrum, SAFe, or PI Planning is beneficial.

Have Technical Skills:

• Strong functional knowledge of SAP BW or SAP BW/4HANA.
• Good understanding of SAP ERP, especially FI and CO modules.
• Strong knowledge of finance data, mappings, master data, hierarchies, and reporting logic.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex spreadsheets and Power Query; VBA is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Jira or comparable ticketing and planning tools.
• Basic Python knowledge is an advantage.
• Understanding of data privacy, data security, access concepts, and content security.

Have certification:

• Certification in SAP, SAFe, Scrum, Business Analysis, Data Analytics, or Finance is an advantage.
• Relevant practical experience is more important than formal certification.

Have soft skills:

• Strong customer orientation and service mindset.
• Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders.
• High ownership, reliability, self-motivation, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently in an international and distributed team.
• Strong coordination skills and focus on quality, stability, and operational excellence.

Other Skills

• Good understanding of corporate finance, controlling, financial steering, planning, and reporting.
• Knowledge of DTAG, TSI, or comparable enterprise finance steering logic is an advantage.
• Ability to maintain documentation and support knowledge sharing.
• Ability to manage recurring tasks such as access reviews, user requests, mapping updates, and content checks.

Language Requirements

• English is mandatory, written and spoken.
• German is a strong advantage, as many incoming requests and user communications may be in German.

Salary

Final salary is negotiable.

We are offering base salary depending on seniority level and previous experience of candidate. In addition to base salary we provide variable part and other financial benefits. Base salary will not be lower than 2000€ /brutto.
