    Job Description

    The Public Transport (ÖPNV) department provides innovative, full-service solutions for the public transport sector, supporting partners in their journey towards digitalization. With expertise in Digital Infrastructure, Digital Transport Operation, and Digital Passenger Experience, we enable public transport providers to deliver safe, efficient, and passenger-focused mobility solutions.

    Our areas include the OBU (On-Board Unit) development, which is an integrated software and hardware solutions designed for public transport vehicles, such as buses and trams, to enhance operational efficiency and connectivity for Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG (BOGESTRA) who is member of the KÖR (Kooperation östliches Ruhrgebiet: Eastern Ruhr Area Cooperation). The solution is used in hundreds of vehicles across Germany and is used by thousands. Heavily relying on the T-Systems own TETRA and ITCS solutions, we are developing everything in close contact with the customer to fit users needs.

    By combining technological innovation with comprehensive consulting and project management expertise, we provide end-to-end solutions that modernize public transport systems, enhance operational performance, and improve passenger experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, build, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment workflows across multiple environments.
    • Develop and manage reusable workflows and templates (e.g., GitHub Actions) to standardize and accelerate delivery processes.
    • Implement and maintain artifact management systems (e.g., Azure Artifacts, GitHub Packages) for efficient versioning and dependency management.
    • Integrate DevSecOps practices into CI/CD pipelines — including vulnerability scanning, license compliance (e.g., Blackduck), and code quality checks (e.g., Sonar).
    • Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
    • Implement and optimize monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure visibility and system reliability.
    • Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to enable continuous integration, testing, and delivery of high-quality software.
    • Document CI/CD processes, configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing and process consistency.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or CI/CD Expert, with hands-on experience in build, release, and deployment automation.
    • Expertise with CI/CD toolchains and automation frameworks — including Maven, Gradle, Sonar, NPM, ArgoCD, Yarn, Blackduck, Istio, K6, and Golang.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and workflow integration.
    • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Proven skills in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Puppet).
    • Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on automation and reliability.
