Job Description

The architect is responsible for definition and communication of a common technical and architectural vision. He defines technical solution to implement business requirements. Architect will develop an architectural runway and drives the development teams to follow it.
Architect will define and monitor technical solutions to be compliant with guardrails and to ensure IT security of the applications for which he is responsible.
He also advises the business side on finding solutions for business requirements to enable cost-effective implementation.
In the GFS Hub, the architect is working on harmonizing existing solutions towards a uniform target architecture. He plays a central role in defining a common technical approach. Especially in the context of the merger of Geo-Hub and FTTH-Hub, he is responsible for the further use of existing solutions and know-how. The architect will evaluate the existing solutions and, in consultation with the other system architects, will find the best solution for the respective component. These solutions will define the architectural roadmap for further development in the new GFS Hub.
Architect will introduce enablers to consequently follow the defined architectural roadmap. Within the product management process, the architect will prioritize enablers, and he will support development teams in implementing these enablers. The architect follows the SAFe methodology and actively uses the processes and events defined in SAFe.
Architect is a central contact person for the development teams in order to align the teams to the defined roadmap.
As an architect you will be responsible for architecture of several applications which are involved in the process of planning of new fiber networks. This includes integration of third-party software for automatic planning as well as integration of data from partner applications as well as providing interfaces to other applications within and outside of the GFS Hub.

Your tasks at the GFS Hub includes:

  • Further development of existing architecture of structure planning application:
    • Retirement of currently used oracle database,
    • Cloud solution on AWS EC2,
    • Decoupling of components currently implemented as monolithic block,
    • Implementing of containerized solution.
  • Harmonizing of existing cloud solutions towards a unique solution within AWS (shared Kubernetes cluster vs. Open shift cluster vs. native usage of AWS services like ECS, RDS, S3)
  • Further development of existing CI/CD methods
  • Consulting regarding costefficient operation of services
  • Definition of concepts for next level of test automation

You will actively work together with other architect in the GFS Hub as well with the Domain architects.
You will follow current trends, especially in the context of provisioning and usage of OGC based services, Geographical information systems and cloudification.
English language skills are a must have in our hub, with German language skills as a plus but not a prerequisite.

Qualifications

You have expertise in the following areas:

  • Deployment of workloads into cloud environments, especially into shared Kubernetes cluster or AWS environments.
  • AWS services
  • Open API
  • AuthX methods, especially based on Open ID connect.

Ideally, you have knowledge of:

  • Modelling and processing of geographical data
  • Standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) like WFS and WMS
  • Geographical information systems like QGIS
  • Python based development.
