Job Description

Descartes Underwriting is seeking a creative, high-energy and motivated Finance and Operations Alternant(e) who will help us run our finance function, be in charge of a variety of strategic and financial tasks and contribute to the implementation of operational projects to help Descartes get to the next level. The Alternant(e) will be in close and effective cooperation with all business units and management and play a vital role in the following activities:


  • Prepare financial communication materials such as monthly financial reports to investors, internal management reports and ad-hoc financial analysis and dashboards
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual budgeting process and quarterly and monthly reforecasts
  • Support the finance team in the day-to-day operations such as invoicing, bookkeeping, cash reconciliation and forecasting
  • Help coordinating work with external accountants and auditors in France, the US and Singapore



  • Prepare business and insurance KPIs, specific analysis and dashboards
  • Ensure appropriate data collection and quality of the CRM and portfolio management systems
  • Support the hub consolidation with the integration of each new subsidiary with the set-up of accounting, opening of bank accounts and deployment of processes to local teams
  • Constantly seek for areas of improvement by identifying trends, risks and improvement opportunities to set up and implement new tools and processes in order to make the organization more efficient and more scalable



  • Apply controls and policies in relation to legal and compliance framework



  • Working toward a master’s degree in Comptabilité, Finance, Gestion
  • ‘Alternance’ type of contract with a rhythm allowing a recurring weekly presence in the company
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal communication) to work in an international environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel
  • Autonomous, dynamic, and passionate about startups and technology
  • Eye for quality and attention to detail, especially for reporting and analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
