Job Description

Cartography and Data Design Vendor, Map Design - As a UX Designer, you'll deliver design and map visualizations. This role will be on the team responsible for map caography. Designers on this team work on creating the caographic visualizations that communicate geo-spatial information to users at a global scale.

In this role, you’ll learn the map code base and standards and apply updated design thinking to the roads, vegetated areas, and built environment. You’ll work closely with a UX Lead to deliver nal information architectures, code, and evolved map visualizations for dierent map journeys and use cases.

You’ll paner with Product, Engineering, and other teams to identify and resolve problems, and deliver work on time against regular product deadlines and milestones. You’ll also deliver other critical aspects of this design work, including but not limited to experimentation and renement work.

As an interaction designer on the map, you’ll join a cross functional team and contribute to the overall map visualization. You will work on the design and evolution of core caographic elements including road priorities and representations.

  • Evolve the design of caographic elements with input from designers and engineers.

  • Evaluate use cases, conduct audits, and deliver design solutions with global audiences in mind and in accordance to our zoom level guidelines and map policies

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand use cases, and provide creative, thoughul solutions.

  • Communicate the design rationale behind the solution at various stages of the process with wireframes, prototypes, and desk research

Qualifications

  • 4 years experience working as an interaction designer, visualization designer, or architect

  • BA or BS in Design (including graphic design, human-computer interaction, architecture, or a related eld — in lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience)

  • Fluent with design a tools, specically Figma

  • Elementary understanding of HTML/CSS or other front end coding languages

  • Tactical hands on design capabilities

  • Strong understanding of design theories and principles of typography, layout

    and information hierarchy

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Additional Information

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000-$153,000. Salary is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
