Job Description

  • Supporting the Treasury and Tax Director
  • Prepare working papers for corporate group consisting of 16 taxable Canadian Corporations and assisting in reconciliation of related General Ledger accounts
  • Assisting in response to audit enquiries from federal and provincial governments
  • Monitoring and reviewing monthly sales tax filings
  • Assisting the department with forecasting and day to day operations on an individual and consolidated reporting basis
  • Requires professional knowledge and experience in tax for Canadian Corporations with international exposure and ownership
  • Solves a range of complex problems related to process
  • Ensure tax filings are prepared with appropriate working paper support for all business units (preparation of working papers necessary) for income tax, sales tax and other tax reporting
  • Assist in corporate reorganization efforts and support Tax Manager to identify areas for efficiency and optimization
  •  Act as preliminary reviewer for work related to foreign exchange exposure and mitigation
  • Act as primary contact to tax audit and business inquiries
  • Support overall taxation related questions and inquiries from non-tax audits
  • Assist and laisse with other businesses to ensure accurate financial reporting is always maintained
  • Evaluate and propose solutions to risks arising from operations, system integrations and other reporting
  • Assist in credit insurance and treasury reviews on a periodic and ad Hoc basis
  • Review information submitted to the department and escalate information to manager where needed;
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Ad hoc analysis as required

Qualifications

  • Strong technology skills, experience with D365 is an asset
  • Familiarity with tax software CCH is highly desired
  • Strong reconciliation skills for general ledger data is required
  • Advanced Excel capabilities (experience with macros and power queries is an asset)
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization in both oral and written form
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in similar position or in a public accounting firm equivalent
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-location and remote work environment
  • Familiarity with credit insurance concepts is an asset
  • Exposure to treasury concepts around cash forecasting and optimization is an asset
