Job Description

The Associate Director’s role is managerial, but also one of agency leadership.  The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager is to manage all national video investment activity for assigned accounts.  It is the Senior Manager who negotiates buys, checks preliminary and final post buy delivery and tracking performance to ensure buys meet client expectations. 

 Video Investment and Execution:

  • Negotiate video buys on an upfront and scatter basis
  • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors
  • Work with planners and vendors to develop and implement added value and integrations
  • Oversee day-to-day responsibilities and training of Associates and Senior Associates
  • Maintain marketplace expertise across all television mediums
  • Be knowledgeable of clients business model and goals to best ensure their media is working towards growth
  • Continue to develop relationships with key media vendors 

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Build trusting, collaborative relationships with clients at all levels
  • Manage expectations of client and their deliverables
  • Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
  • Grow business opportunities within current clients
  • Establishes strong internal relationships with other service line heads
  • Maintain client relationships and work directly with clients on buying strategies
  • Represent the client’s point of view and interests in managing the day-to-day account activities
  • Work with planners to ensure the buys are delivering on the planned goals
  • Leads face to face client meetings 

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Oversee the Video Investment team activities
  • Demonstrate problem solving and intervention when necessary
  • Insure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
  • Actively keep current with industry trends, media tools – buying systems, research, resources and associations
  • Construct and deliver accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
  • Provide guidance to team members and nurture/promote team environment
  • Train, motivate and develop assigned staff
  • Properly delegates tasks to ensure appropriate utilization
  • Responsible for accurately estimating, timing and scoping projects
  • Oversees management of specific projects as assigned
  • Oversee team activities, maintain overall plan quality control, lead group in staff meetings
  • Is an engaged member of the media industry, and proactively solicits and contributes innovative ideas 

Communications Skills:

  • Establish and maintain communications process with clients, media teams, creative, etc. for each piece of business within the team
  • Adapt communications style to relevant audience
  • Link communication to audience’s concerns and perspectives
  • Communicate key information about our company
  • Express oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Write in a clear, compelling and concise manner
  • Organize ideas and information logically and sequentially
  •  (Develop) media presentation materials that are clear, compelling and persuasive
  • Maintain frequent/as needed communication with the client and disseminate pertinent client information to the media team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-6 years of video investment experience
  • Proven leadership ability – managed a team of Buyers and Supervisors
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
