Job Description

Carat is leading the industry in People-Based marketing. With the completed integration of our proprietary people-based, audience platform, M1, we are expanding our capabilities in our Detroit office. The SVP, Director of Planning role will be integral in this expansion, implementation and evangelization with our automotive client.

Quite simply, our cutting-edge media and audience team, seeks an equally motivate and passionate SVP, Director of Planning.

The SVP will lead and partner with team members from Strategy, Insights, Buying, Content and Analytics teams to help craft holistic M1 m plans that drive sales and exceed client benchmarks. This role will also collaborate across disciplines and work directly with senior level automotive clients.

The SVP will work to understand the business challenges and develop a marketing approach for their client’s brand. The SVP will also partner with the clients, CAORs and partner agencies to help drive more effective communications.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the single day-to-day business lead responsible for:
  • The health of the account
  • Team performance
  • The quality of planning, activation and marketing product
  • Integration across Carat/Dentsu
  • Integration across agency partners
  • Serves as the agency client lead representing all current agency services
  • Responsible for leading the development a system for managing the unique client workload
  • Responsible for helping to identify and prioritize support at peak workload times
  • Responsible for helping team members to develop planning and problem solving skills
  • Responsible for working with team members to develop individual career growth
  • Responsible for ensuring our team meets or exceeds all GM benchmarks/productivity goals
  • Sets an example for professionalism, maturity and passion for the business 
  • Day-to-day contact of the client Associate Director and an escalation point for the SR Manager and Manager

COMMUNICATION SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Ability to encourage open, ongoing internal communication
  • Ability to establish and maintain communications process with clients and agency service teams
  • Ability to direct the development of client presentations and other important communication, communication that is clear, compelling and persuasive
  • Ability to confidently lead client presentations, working sessions and discussions
  • Ability to adapt communications style to relevant audience and present compelling arguments to senior level and c-suite clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (marketing, communications, advertising, psychology, research, etc.) 
  • 15 + years of overall marketing experience; 5+ years leading senior client relationships
  • Deep knowledge and experience with audience segmentation, consumer databases and multiple marketing channels
  • Strong understanding of client’s business environment and agency services business models
  • Understanding of the various enterprise audience platforms on the market and their capabilities
  • Knowledgeable in the latest 1:1 video technology (Addressable, OTT, Programmatic, etc.)
  • Proven ability to think strategically, with a balanced analytical and creative approach, and the ability to guide others on how to think more strategically
  • Unparalleled client service professionalism, maturity, and diplomacy
  • Strong understanding of marketing research and segmentation
  • Proven leadership ability – experience managing multiple groups of planners, supervisors and directors
  • Skilled leader of process and output that takes the client outside comfort zone
  • Collaborative and able to successfully bring people from different disciplines, internal and external to Carat, together to achieve desired outcomes
