Job Description

The Associate Strategic Planner will help understand client challenges, research their audiences/landscape, and develop/present strategic sponsorship recommendations as a key member of MKTG's Strategy Team.

The chosen candidate will be a member of MKTG’s Strategy Team. The group will act as a shared-resource across MKTG’s client roster, helping to develop market leading strategies that will enable our clients to achieve their business and brand objectives via sponsorship. The candidate will also play a supporting role helping to develop and implement business strategies for the agency, devoting approximately 30% of their time towards agency thought-leadership, and business development. 


70% Time – Strategy Consulting

  • Play a leading role on client project teams for high-priority special projects
  • Build presentations and documentation that articulate recommendations
  • Distill complex information into simple yet intelligent stories and deliver it in an engaging and inspirational manner
  • Provide an informed point of view on how the brand should behave to capture opportunities for growth that exist in the market
  • Possess an understanding of how the client’s business operates and the motivations of the various stakeholders
  • Conduct research and analysis to support recommendations
  • Thorough understanding of the brand, culture, the consumer and the marketplace
  • Build project plans for current and prospective consulting clients

30% Time – Agency Thought Leadership

  • Provide copywriting and editorial oversight over MKTG’s published thought leadership content
  • Help manage and implement MKTG’s online/social strategy
  • Support on business development process

Qualifications

  • 1-2 Years Work Experience (entry-level candidates will not be considered for this role)
  • Experience in Consulting, Strategic Planning, or Brand Management role considered an asset
  • Candidates must demonstrate understanding of core marketing concepts and possess strong communication (verbal/written) and analytical abilities.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Communications preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Shortlisted candidates will be asked to participate in a case study interview process
