Job Description

Open to remote applicants in the U.S.! Ability to work EST hours is required.

As an SEM Associate Manager, you will manage paid search campaigns for one of Merkle's long-standing clients across Walmart Connect and Amazon. You'll work under the direction of the Director and with a variety of cross-functional team members. You will be the go-to resource for our clients, lead the day-to-day strategic management of complex eRetail SEM campaigns, manage the account team, and act as the central hub of collaboration across different departments/resources all the while satisfying client goals. You will be smart, ambitious, willing to roll-up your sleeves, and won't stop until the goal is achieved. We're looking for intelligent people who can represent Merkle, develop the strategy behind category defining SEM programs, ensure superior service delivery to our clients, and participate in a manner that ensures a trusting and lasting relationship.

Responsibilities

Search Campaign Management:

  • Perform daily campaign activities for enterprise level Paid Search (PPC) campaigns, including: bid management, budget allocation, forecasting, performance monitoring, strategic testing, and campaign expansion
  • Be the main contact for your client, internal departments, and third-party providers
  • Lead collaboration and facilitate discussions, planning, and project management
  • Contribute to the development and execution of market strategies for Paid Search campaigns, including developing strategic roadmaps, test plans, and risk/benefit analysis
  • Analyze results and develop actionable insights

Analysis, Thought Leadership & Communication:

  • Use analytical reasoning, data analysis, and problem solving skills to effectively and efficiently manage campaigns. Professionally communicate findings to your client
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and professional communication skills by developing and delivering client-facing materials, such as presentations, Point of Views, business cases, and performance reports
  • Use business acumen to work with client teams to identify and understand business needs, campaign performance objectives, and opportunities to grow the relationship

Teamwork & Project Management:

  • Mentor SEM Specialists supporting your accounts, communicate task execution and timeline requirements, strategic guidance, and constructive feedback to aid in their growth in their core functional areas or responsibilities
  • Monitor and share industry news, online marketing trends, industry tools, and internal cross-team learnings

Qualifications

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Business Experience:
 

  • 2+ years of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) experience, preferably on the agency side
  • Experience managing SEM campaigns in Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, eRetail platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Instacart, etc.)
  • Experience outside of SEM is a plus - we often work with Google Ads Display, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon DSP, etc.
  • SA360 experience and/or certification

Analytical Skills:
 

  • Data analysis and problem solving skills - ability to draw conclusions and devise strategic recommendations based on findings
  • Microsoft Excel skills: pivot tables, Vlookups, and chart building. Working knowledge of Data Studio is a plus.
  • Additional SEM software skills is a plus (e.g. Tableau, Kenshoo, Marin, Hitwise, etc.)

Project Management:
 

  • You know when to self-solve vs. when to seek guidance, and aren't afraid to ask for direction from the experts that surround you
  • You're organized, able to balance client timelines and needs, possibly across multiple clients
