Job Description

As a copywriter, you will play a key role in the development of the copy team which sits within the creative team; part of Merkle’s customer experience department. You will be working on key client accounts as well as supporting on internal projects, as and when required. What we do spans all digital touchpoints, from long form website SEO content to email, social (both paid and organic), video and dynamic display banners – and there will be opportunities for original creative ideation.

You will have pin-sharp attention to detail (you’ll know that an en dash most definitely isn’t an em dash), a genuine love of words and a knack for coming up with creative concepts, all while being able to adapt to any tone of voice guide or format thrown your way.

You’ll be keen to learn the process of writing for performance creative, from audience personalisation to creative testing and optimisation. In short, you’ll not only love the craft of creative, but you’ll get a kick out of knowing what does, and doesn’t work, so you can always improve.

We have lots of accounts on the go, so you’ll be able to juggle multiple projects and manage your time well – but ultimately you’ll enjoy the variety and working under a bit of pressure to focus the mind. You’ll be happy working alone on some projects that only require copy input, but you’ll love working in a team – especially with designers, as you will need to work hand-in-hand with them to bring your copy ideas to life. So you’ll need to be a good communicator and collaborator who loves bouncing ideas around with other creatives. You will also work closely with Merkle’s SEO, media and paid social teams so you’ll be keen to understand the work of other teams and work in an integrated fashion.

Importantly, you need to have a strong creative drive and a desire to get ideas off the ground by rallying the team around you. This takes confidence, but the right candidate will naturally be the sort of people that can express themselves and get others excited by their passion – someone with infectious curiosity and spirit.
