Our Audit, Assurance and Reporting Advisory business is looking for a Director to join our national Technology Controls Assurance team in either Auckland or Christchurch. 

Our Technology Controls Assurance team partners with financial auditors to understand clients’ businesses, strategies, IT architecture, and risk landscape. We anticipate emerging technologies and develop audit strategies to address complex financial and operational risks. We support clients in elevating IT control governance maturity, working across diverse industries and high-profile engagements. 

Working in a highly integrated audit environment you will set the strategic direction for IT audit planning, oversee multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure robust evaluation of IT control design and effectiveness. You will drive quality, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring our work meets the highest standards and delivers measurable value to clients. In addition, as our clients increasingly depend on new and emerging technologies, this role is a provides a unique opportunity to shape the growth of our business into this space from both assurance and advisory perspectives.

As a Director you will:

  • Lead and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous development.
  • Shape and execute the IT audit strategy, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and manage senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to C-suite and Boards.
  • Drive business development, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to the expansion of our IT Controls Assurance practice.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, positioning Deloitte as a market leader.
  • Mentor and develop future leaders, providing coaching, sponsorship, and guidance to support their career progression.
  • Collaborate across service lines and geographies, leveraging the global Deloitte network to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

Your expertise:

Bring your expertise in IT Controls Assurance and continuous improvement mindset to see what impact you can make,

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in IT audit, controls assurance, and risk advisory, ideally within a Big 4 or leading professional services environment.
  • Recognised professional accreditation (e.g., CISA, CA).
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing large, complex engagements and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to influence at senior levels, including Boards and C-suite.
  • Track record of business development, account growth, and market leadership.
  • Deep technical expertise in IT systems, controls, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, cloud, cybersecurity).
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to developing talent, fostering an inclusive culture, and modelling Deloitte’s values.
