Controls Assurance - Senior Consultant

  • Full-time
  • Office address: Deloitte Auckland, Level 20, 1 Queen Street, Auckland
  • Department: Audit, Assurance & Reporting Advisory | Controls Assurance

Company Description

Join us. But be you. At Deloitte, you’ll do more than just join something, you’ll add something.  You’ve found a place that values your curiosity, passion, and desire to work alongside brilliant people on the things that really matter. There really is only one question: What impact do YOU want to make?

Our Controls Assurance team is looking for an Internal Auditor to join us as a Senior Consultant in the Auckland Audit, Assurance and Reporting Advisory business. Ideally someone with a background in internal audit or risk management within a corporate or professional services firm. Experience should include internal controls and risk management with a minimum of 3+ years' experience.

About the team:

Our Internal Audit practice helps organisations look below the surface to achieve superior performance through a full range of outsourcing, co-sourcing and advisory services. Teaming with — or working as — a client’s Internal Audit function, Deloitte transforms these functions to achieve a high level of performance, assisting with enhancing process efficiency, fraud detection, operational quality, internal control and regulatory compliance. Working across a range of industries and clients, we keep abreast of emerging trends in governance, risk and compliance and help in developing audit plans to mitigate risks.

In a highly integrated environment, you will plan the internal audits, manage the fieldwork team, perform evaluations of control design, and carry out assessments of the effectiveness of internal controls to ensure their integrity.

Job Description

    Your typical day will include:

    • Working alongside your project team, internal subject matter experts and different leaders. We work on a flat structure, so you will get the opportunity to work with lots of different people across the country (and in some cases, our colleagues overseas).
    • Leading fieldwork and delivering audits across a range of industries and clients, supporting engagement mangers with the preparation of reports to management and c-suite.
    • Coaching and developing our junior team members, supporting their professional growth.
    • Getting into the details of a business - understanding how they operate, what their priorities are, and identifying where they could be exposed to risk.
    • Developing solutions on how to improve processes. Your voice and opinion matters, there is always more than one way to solve a problem.

    Qualifications

Enough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone with:

    • 3 to 5 years audit experience that should include internal controls and service auditor reporting (preferably from corporate, Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm).
    • Relevant professional accreditation.
    • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and completeness of audit findings.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills – ability to identify control issues and risks, develop and implement solutions to enhance processes.
    • Written and verbal communication excellence to effectively present audit findings, recommendations, and risk assessments.
    • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
