Job Description

  • The ESG Reporting & Control Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting clients to improve their control environment for sustainability reporting and developing and implementing robust controls for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting. This individual will work closely with clients to ensure that their ESG reporting processes are reliable, accurate, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Support:

  • Collaborate with clients to assess and enhance their control environments for sustainability reporting.
  • Provide expert advice on best practices in ESG reporting controls and frameworks.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for clients to build their capacity in ESG reporting.

Control Development & Implementation:

  • Develop and implement controls for ESG reporting that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and document control processes, procedures, and guidelines for ESG reporting.

Risk Assessment:

  • Identify and assess risks related to ESG reporting, including data reliability, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend control improvements to clients.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Assist clients in preparing for external ESG assurance.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Analyse ESG data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in ESG reporting standards and regulations.
  • Continuously improve and update control frameworks and practices to reflect evolving industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting or Eligible to register as a CA

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience within Audit (financial and/or non- financial) or similar role
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing controls in accordance with COSO.
  • Experience in working with clients to improve their internal controls and reporting processes.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis and reporting tools.

Personal Attributes:

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
